The death toll from the devastating floods in Nepal has risen to 165, while 826 people remain missing, according to the latest government figures released Thursday morning.

Search and rescue operations resumed early Thursday across flood-affected areas as authorities continued efforts to locate missing people and recover bodies along the affected river corridors.

165 Bodies Recovered Across Multiple Districts

According to figures available as of 8:15 am on Thursday, authorities had recovered bodies from several districts across Nepal.

The reported recoveries include:

  • Chitwan: 65 bodies

  • Gorkha: 20 bodies
  • Nuwakot: 12 bodies
  • Tanahun: 9 bodies
  • Nawalparasi West: 5 bodies
  • Rasuwa: 2 bodies

The figures bring the total number of recovered bodies to 165.

826 People Still Missing

A Nepal Police bulletin issued at 8:15 am said 826 people remain unaccounted for following the floods.

The missing include members of Nepal’s security forces as well as tourists and local residents.

The reported missing persons include:

  • 579 tourists
  • 44 Nepal Army personnel
  • 28 Nepal Police personnel
  • 13 Armed Police Force personnel
  • 161 residents of Rasuwa
  • 1 resident of Nuwakot

Authorities are continuing to verify information as rescue teams search affected areas.

Search and Rescue Operations Continue

Search teams have resumed operations along rivers, flood-affected settlements and surrounding areas where people may still be stranded or missing.

Emergency personnel are focusing on river corridors and other locations affected by the floods, while efforts are also underway to recover bodies and identify victims.

A multiparty meeting is also being held to discuss measures to improve the effectiveness of rescue and relief operations.

Government Coordinates Relief Efforts

Nepalese authorities are continuing to coordinate rescue teams and security personnel across the affected districts.

With hundreds of people still missing, officials are expected to intensify search operations while simultaneously providing relief to communities affected by the floods.

The situation remains critical, and authorities are continuing to update the death toll and missing-person figures as search and rescue operations progress.
