Silvassa | DNH – A political controversy has erupted in the Union Territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli after a viral video of a senior BJP leader allegedly engaging in a flirtatious video chat triggered outrage and forced the party to issue a showcause notice.
The clip, widely circulated across social media and messaging platforms, reportedly shows the Silvassa-based leader speaking to a female friend and saying “I love you,” along with other personal remarks. The video quickly spread across the region, sparking debate over political conduct and party discipline.
Party seeks explanation
Taking note of the growing controversy, the Bharatiya Janata Party issued a showcause notice to the leader, seeking an explanation for his conduct. Party sources said the notice was intended to protect the party’s image and maintain organisational discipline.
“The matter has been taken seriously, and an explanation has been sought,” a party functionary said, indicating that further action could depend on the leader’s response.
Viral clip sparks debate on discipline
The video, believed to be from some time ago, resurfaced recently and soon reached mobile phones across Silvassa and nearby areas. Critics within political circles said the incident has raised concerns about maintaining decorum and responsibility while holding public office.
Some local leaders argued that such actions can damage the party’s image, especially at a time when it frequently speaks about women’s empowerment and social responsibility.
