IIT Gandhinagar, Global Chamber Join Hands to Take Research Global

GANDHINAGAR :  IIT Gandhinagar (IITGN) and Global Chamber Ahmedabad GIFT City have joined hands to bridge the gap between cutting-edge research and global markets, signing an MoU aimed at turning promising technologies into market-ready solutions.

The agreement, signed on August 28, establishes a University–Industry–Global Ecosystem partnership focused on technology validation, industry collaboration, international market access and cross-border scaling of IITGN research.

Under the partnership, Global Chamber Ahmedabad GIFT City will leverage its international network of CEOs, investors and policymakers to create global partnerships and market opportunities for IITGN innovations. The collaboration will also explore programmes supporting international technology companies seeking to enter India.

IITGN Director Prof Rajat Moona said the partnership would help research move beyond the academic environment.

“It is important that our research and innovations find pathways beyond the campus. This collaboration opens up opportunities to connect our work with industry and global ecosystems and take it towards wider applications and impact,” he said.

Global Chamber Ahmedabad GIFT City Executive Director Shanker Damodaran highlighted the opportunities emerging from Gujarat’s GIFT City.

“With multiple initiatives coming up in GIFT City, we see significant opportunities to work with IIT Gandhinagar and bring global technologies, investments and partnerships to Gujarat,” Damodaran said.

IITGN Dean, Research and Development, Prof Vimal Mishra, said the partnership could accelerate the movement of research towards practical applications.

“The collaboration will create opportunities to connect research and technology with industry and global partners, helping promising innovations move towards real-world applications,” he said.

The MoU brings together IITGN’s strengths in deep-tech, R&D and technology validation with Global Chamber’s capabilities in international technology incubation, industry adoption and global partnerships.

Following the signing, both sides also held a technical interaction on sustainable computing infrastructure, discussing advanced cooling technologies, renewable energy integration and geothermal cooling solutions.
