Gujarat’s Dudh Sanjeevani Yojana: Lifeline for Tribal Children’s Nutrition

Gandhinagar | Gujarat — The Gujarat government has implemented ‘Dudh Sanjeevani Yojana’ for the strong future of children. This scheme has become a lifeline for lakhs of children. Especially to students from poor and remote areas, Dudh Sanjeevani provided under this scheme provides them with the strength to fight diseases and the energy needed to get the best education. This scheme, which gives top priority to child health, is becoming a blessing for the tribal children of Gujarat.
A total of 9,75,103 children in the state have been benefited under this scheme so far. Lakhs of students studying in government and aided schools are given nutritious milk every day. Through this scheme, children can stay healthy and pay more attention to their studies.
This scheme is operational in a total of 141 components including 105 tribal and 36 developing components of 20 districts of the state. Its main objective is to make children and mothers well-nourished by distributing nutritious milk through Anganwadi centers.
Assistance provided to beneficiaries under the scheme
Children registered in Anganwadi aged 6 months to 6 years are given 100 ml of pasteurized fortified flavored milk five days a week. This milk provides essential nutrients for their physical and mental development.
Pregnant and lactating mothers are given 200 ml of pasteurized fortified flavored milk for two days a week, on Wednesday and Friday, for 6 months. Pasteurized fortified flavored milk is provided, which supports their and the infant’s nutrition during pregnancy and lactation.
Keeping in mind the importance of this scheme, the state government has made a budget provision of Rs. 133.26 crore for the year 2025-26. This provision ensures that more and more needy children and mothers of the state continue to receive nutrition regularly.
This initiative of the Gujarat government is a strong step towards making the state malnutrition-free, which is laying the foundation for a bright and healthy future for the coming generation. The 100% state-funded ‘Dudh Sanjeevani Yojana’ of the Gujarat government is playing a vital role in improving the nutritional level of the children of the state. This scheme has proven to be like a Sanjeevani for preventing malnutrition, especially in tribal and developing areas.
