Ahmedabad : In a vibrant celebration of Gujarati cinema, the 2024 Vibrant Gujarati Film Award Ceremony was attended by Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel at the Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Auditorium in Ahmedabad. This prestigious event, jointly organized by the State Information and Broadcasting Department and Colors Gujarati, marked a significant moment in recognizing the Gujarati film industry’s contributions and achievements.

Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, addressing the gathering, underscored Gujarat’s evolution from its globally recognized development model to an emerging focal point for the film industry. He reaffirmed the double-engine government’s commitment, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, to nurturing the growth of the film sector and cinematic tourism in the state. The Chief Minister’s words resonated with the audience, emphasizing the administration’s dedication to promoting the arts and cultural heritage of Gujarat.

The ceremony was not just a platform to honor the artistic and technical excellence of the Gujarati film industry but also a testament to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s longstanding commitment to celebrating and elevating Gujarat’s rich culture. The Chief Minister reminisced about the initiatives taken during Modi’s tenure as the Chief Minister of Gujarat, which significantly boosted Gujarati cinema and integrated the state’s picturesque and strategic tourism destinations into the filmmaking process.

Highlighting the state’s achievements in the cinematic sphere, including the successful hosting of the Filmfare Awards, Chief Minister Patel credited these milestones to the collaborative efforts of the entire Gujarati film industry. He took the opportunity to acknowledge the actors, directors, producers, and technicians who have been instrumental in bringing Gujarati cinema to the forefront of the cultural landscape.

The Chief Minister also shed light on the pivotal role of policies such as the Cinematic Tourism Policy and the Filming Incentive Scheme in transforming Gujarat into a preferred location for film shootings. These initiatives have opened new avenues for not only Gujarati but also Hindi and other regional film industries to explore the scenic beauty and rich heritage of Gujarat. Iconic locations like the Gir Forest, Statue of Unity, White Desert of Kutch, Ranaki Vav, and Modhera Surya Mandir have been showcased in various films, thus presenting Gujarat’s vibrant culture and legacy to a global audience and fostering cultural exchange.

In his address, Chief Minister Patel expressed confidence that the Gujarati film industry would significantly contribute to the vision of “Viksit Bharat@2047” through a developed Gujarat. He emphasized the industry’s potential in shaping cultural narratives and fostering unity across the nation, aligning with the vision of “Ek Bharat-Shreshth Bharat.”

The award ceremony saw the distribution of accolades across multiple categories, celebrating the artistic achievements of the industry’s luminaries. Notable winners included Malhar Thakar, Adesh Singh Tomar, and Yash Soni for Best Actor in the years 2020, 2021, and 2022 respectively. Kinjal Rajpriya, Denisha Gumra, and Aarohi Patel were honored as Best Actress for the same years, showcasing the diverse talent pool within the Gujarati film industry.

The event was attended by luminaries from the Gujarati film industry, including actors, producers, directors, and other key personalities, alongside government officials such as the Mayor of Ahmedabad, Smt. Pratibha Jain, and Deputy Mayor Shri Jatin Patel. The ceremony underscored the government’s support for the arts and highlighted the Gujarati film industry’s remarkable journey towards achieving greater heights in creativity and innovation.

As the curtains fell on the 2024 Gujarati Film Award Ceremony, the atmosphere was charged with optimism and pride. The accolades distributed were not just trophies but a recognition of the hard work, passion, and dedication that have driven the Gujarati film industry forward. The Chief Minister’s presence and words were a strong affirmation of the government’s support for the arts, promising a bright future for cinematic endeavors in Gujarat.
