Surat : A tragic event unfolded in Surat where the 17-year-old son of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) councillor Jitendra Kachadiya lost his life in a fierce fire that swept through their bungalow in the Ananddhara Society, Mota Varachha. This tragic incident, which occurred in the early hours of Friday, has plunged the city into mourning and sparked concerns regarding fire safety in residential areas.

Prince Kachadiya, a 12th-grade student, tragically perished in the fast-spreading flames that engulfed their home. Despite the rest of the family managing to narrowly escape death by leaping into the neighbouring house, Prince was tragically trapped in his room, unable to make his escape.

The Surat fire department was alerted by a distress call around 2 a.m., leading to a prompt response. The firefighters, armed with water cannons, bravely battled the flames to extinguish them and protect lives. Prince Kachadiya was found in critical condition on the second floor of the bungalow despite rescue efforts to save everyone inside.

Hurried to SMIMER Hospital with the hope of saving his young life, the medical team’s efforts were in vain, as Prince was pronounced dead upon arrival. The tragic loss of the young Kachadiya has brought profound sorrow to both the family and the community, underscoring the unforeseeable aspect of such heartbreaking events.

Swift action by the fire department prevented further casualties, yet the tragic loss of a young life has sparked a renewed emphasis on fire safety measures in residential areas. Officials are currently conducting investigations to identify the cause of the fire, with a focus on preventing similar incidents from occurring again.

According to a senior fire officer, the precise reason for the fire is still under investigation, but it seems likely that a short-circuit may have been the cause. During the night, the fire quickly spread while the family members were sound asleep.
