SURAT : More than 1,200 Ayurveda and Unani practitioners from across South Gujarat will come together in Surat on Sunday for what organisers describe as the region’s largest such gathering, with a focus on modern research, advanced diagnostics and emerging treatment methods.
The one-day state-level conference, ‘GCAU Vande Ayucon-3’, will be organised jointly by the Gujarat Council of Ayurvedic and Unani Systems of Medicine and the Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SGCCI) at Platinum Hall, SIECC, Sarsana, from 8 am to 6 pm.
The conference will be inaugurated at noon by Union Jal Shakti Minister C. R. Patil. Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi and Health Minister Prafull Panseriya will attend as chief guests.
SGCCI President Ashok Jirawala said the conference reflects the growing relevance of India’s traditional medical systems.
“Ayurveda is not merely our 5,000-year-old system of medicine; it is India’s invaluable global heritage and a powerful connection between health and nature,” Jirawala said.
He added that the Chamber would continue supporting the healthcare ecosystem alongside its work in trade and industry, with the objective of contributing to a “Healthy India, Prosperous India”.
The programme will feature special Continuing Medical Education (CME) sessions led by Ayurveda experts from across India. The sessions will cover modern research, advanced diagnostics and Ayurvedic approaches to complex diseases.
Gujarat Ayurvedic Council president Dr Jignesh U. Patel said senior officials and academics will also address practitioners, including representatives of the National Commission for Indian System of Medicine (NCISM), Gujarat AYUSH Directorate and Gujarat Ayurvedic University.
Speakers include Dr Sushrut Kanaujia, Dr Mukul Patel, Dr Jayesh Parmar and Gujarat Ayurvedic University Vice-Chancellor Dr Mansi Deshpande.
SGCCI Vice-President Ravi Raj Desai said the conference would provide practitioners with opportunities to update their clinical knowledge.
On-site facilities for registration renewal and guidance on the Healthcare Professionals Registry (HPR) will also be available for registered practitioners.
