Surat: A network of 300 CCTV cameras in the Pandesara area of Surat played a pivotal role in reuniting a missing two-year-old girl with her family. The toddler had gone missing while playing near her house on September 6, sparking a frantic search by her family and a determined effort by the Surat police.

The young girl, a member of a working-class family, had vanished between 1:30 pm and 2:00 pm near Pandesara Bhedwad Circle. Her disappearance left her family in distress, desperately seeking answers.

Thanks to the extensive CCTV camera network installed in various shops and public areas throughout Pandesara, the Surat police were able to make significant headway in the case. A thorough examination of approximately 300 CCTV camera footage covering a four-kilometer radius led the authorities to the location of the missing child.

Surat Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Vijaysinh Gurjar explained that the girl was found safe and sound at the residence of a man named Mohammad Tulla, who resides in Gadhanagar, Pandesara. Upon locating the child, the police promptly took custody of her and detained Mohammad Tulla and his wife for questioning.

To ensure the well-being of the child, she was subjected to a medical examination at the Surat New Civil Hospital. Fortunately, the examination revealed no signs of harm or untoward incidents, bringing relief to both her family and the authorities.

Subsequent investigations and questioning of the detained couple shed light on the circumstances surrounding the girl’s disappearance. It was revealed that the child had wandered away from her home while playing, and the couple had come across her. In their genuine concern for her well-being, they had taken the child under their care and embarked on a quest to locate her family.

CCTV footage provided clear evidence of the couple’s efforts to identify the child’s parents by asking passersby about her origins. This crucial information, coupled with the couple’s sincere intentions, led the Surat police to release them without charges.
