Surat : MD drug, also known as mephedrone, is a psychoactive substance that is currently being sold at roadside paan shops, tea stalls, food joints, and bhajiya shops in the diamond city of Surat. The MD drug is subsequently sold by roadside vendors to young people who have developed an addiction to the drug of abuse. Three individuals who were operating the MD drug business from the paan and farshan establishment in the Lal Gate area of Surat have been apprehended by the Surat police. 

The Lalgate police were informed that certain individuals were selling narcotics under the guise of a Bhajiya shop and a Paan shop. The police conducted a raid on the establishments and apprehended three individuals, Moin, Zafar, and Rashid. They also confiscated approximately 100 grams of MD drug, which is valued at Rs 10 lakh. 

The accused disclosed that the peddlers provided them with the MD substance, which they subsequently sold to their clients.  Nevertheless, the authorities have initiated an investigation to ascertain the identities of the suppliers and buyers who visited the paan and bhajiya shop. 

In Palsana, a rural area of Surat, the Gujarat ATS raided and seized mephedrone narcotics valued at Rs 51 crore on Thursday. For a period of one month, mephedrone was being produced in the estate’s garage. Three individuals have been apprehended by the ATS for possessing mephedrone in both powder and liquid form. In a single month, the accused manufactured and distributed four kilograms of mephedrone. The accused will be brought to ATS as a result of their remand and appearance in court.

On May 3, 2024, drugs were confiscated in Surat.The incident of the narcotic recovery from Surat has been brought to the forefront. The city crime branch police have achieved significant success in apprehending a man in possession of drug paraphernalia. A young male began to flee after observing the police during the foot patrol near Mann Darwaza. Upon interrogation, it was discovered that he was in possession of MD drugs. The accused has been apprehended by the police in connection with 200 grams of MD narcotics.

On May 4, 2024, drugs were confiscated in Surat.

Accused 23-year-old Toseef Khan Yunus Khan Abdul Rehman Abdul Majeed Sheikh, 36, and Bismillah Khan, who were traveling on a motorcycle, were pursued. The police confiscated a total of Rs 1.50 lakh, in addition to cash and a moped, and recovered 1.43 grams of mephedrone narcotics valued at Rs 14,300. The accused had obtained the narcotics from Mohammad Chand of Sagarampura, according to the police investigation. Organized in which these drug traffickers were apprehended.
