Surat : In a significant stride towards community welfare, the Adani Foundation dedicated newly refurbished houses to the Halpati community of Vansva village in Hazira on Saturday. The inauguration ceremony was led by Mukesh Patel, Minister of State for Forest and Environment, Government of Gujarat. Alongside this initiative, the Adani Foundation announced Rs. 1.70 crore worth of public welfare projects and honored brilliant students from the Halpati community.

The event, organized by Adani Foundation Hazira, saw the presence of prominent dignitaries including Triptiben Patel, President of the Choryasi Taluka Panchayat, and Panchaben Shah, Gujarat Head of the Adani Foundation. In a show of recognition and encouragement, students from the Halpati community who excelled in their 10th and 12th board exams were felicitated.

Highlighting their commitment to sustainable agriculture, the Adani Foundation also dedicated 34 solar water pumps to farmers in the Olpad taluka. These pumps, serving villages like Lavachha, Admor, Selut, and Khokiyana, aim to promote pollution-free irrigation and reduce the overall cost for farmers.

Minister Mukesh Patel, addressing the gathering, emphasized the transformation brought about by this initiative. “Once the Halpati community did not have pucca houses, but now new and durable houses have been built. It is the dream of Prime Minister Narendrabhai Modi that everyone gets a ready-made house, and this project by the Adani Foundation fulfills that very dream,” he remarked. The Minister further praised the Foundation for its extensive social upliftment efforts across Olpad, Choryasi, and Umarpada talukas, noting that over 200 people have benefited from the 35 Halpati Awas houses inaugurated that day.

The Halpati community expressed their gratitude for the improved living conditions. Kailashben Rathore, sarpanch of the Halpati community and village, shared her happiness, saying, “We are all happy that this dilapidated Halpati abode has been renovated by Adani Foundation on our one-time request.”

The event also highlighted the Adani Foundation’s initiatives to empower women. Products made by Sakhi Mandals, inspired by the Foundation, were exhibited and sold. Items such as soap and detergent powder, produced by Halpati women, showcased their entrepreneurial spirit. Last year, goods worth Rs. 12 lakh were sold by Women Voluntary Organizations and Sakhi Mandals.

Beyond housing, the Adani Foundation’s efforts span health, education, and community development projects in Choryasi, Olpad, and Umarpada talukas of Surat district. These projects aim to uplift tribal communities like the Halpati and Kotwaliya, integrating them into broader developmental initiatives.
