BHAVNAGAR: Fifty-two teams from seven states will go head-to-head in a 36-hour AI-powered robotics challenge as Gujarat hosts ROBOFEST-GUJARAT 6.0 at the Regional Science Centre in Bhavnagar from October 6 to 9.
Organised by the Gujarat Council on Science and Technology (GUJCOST) under the Department of Science and Technology, the hackathon is themed “AI-Powered Robotics Innovation Challenge” and aims to turn student ideas into functional, autonomous robotic solutions.
The competition has attracted significant interest, with 480 teams registering and more than 100 ideas submitted during the ideation stage. Following scrutiny and selection, 52 teams have qualified for the final challenge. Of these, 37 teams are from nine districts of Gujarat, while 15 teams represent Maharashtra, Punjab, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Karnataka and West Bengal.
Science and Technology Minister Arjun Modhwadia said the event would give young innovators an opportunity to develop technology capable of addressing real-world challenges.
“Under the guidance of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, Gujarat is going to host India’s biggest robotics festival in Bhavnagar. Through this initiative, GUJCOST aims to encourage youth-led innovation and promote the development of technology-driven solutions to societal challenges,” he said.
GUJCOST Director General Digvijaysinh Jadeja said the participation reflected growing interest in robotics and emerging technologies among students.
During the 36-hour challenge, teams will develop, test, refine and demonstrate working prototypes with support from mentors, academicians and technical experts. Solutions will be assessed on innovation, technical feasibility, practical applicability and scalability.
The challenge will focus on autonomous robotic systems for diverse applications, including security, deep-sea exploration, autonomous driving, humanitarian assistance, athletic precision and education.
ROBOFEST-GUJARAT 6.0 is aimed at strengthening indigenous robotics capabilities while creating a platform where young innovators can transform ideas into globally competitive technology solutions.
