Limbdi, Gujarat — In a significant boost to railway infrastructure in Gujarat, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday virtually inaugurated 18 redeveloped railway stations across the state. These modernized stations, revamped under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme at a total cost of ₹164 crore, were unveiled during a national event held in Bikaner, Rajasthan.
Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel personally attended the inauguration ceremony at the newly redeveloped Limbdi railway station, expressing pride over the state’s growing railway infrastructure.
Addressing the gathering, CM Patel highlighted Prime Minister Modi’s vision for holistic infrastructure development, stating, “Ever since Narendra Modi assumed the responsibility of leading the country, he has consistently prioritized infrastructure upgrades, whether it’s the military or public transport. His leadership has transformed the Indian Railways with modernization and convenience for the common man.”
The 18 stations inaugurated in Gujarat include Shihor Junction, Utaran, Dakor, Derol, Hapa, Jamjodhpur, Jamvanthali, Canalus Junction, Karamsad, Kosamba Junction, Limbdi, Mahuva, Mithapur, Morbi, Okha, Palitana, Rajula Junction, and Samakhyali.
“These redeveloped stations represent our commitment to the politics of development. They are symbols of how revolutionary changes can be brought to the lives of ordinary citizens through good governance,” the Chief Minister said.
Gujarat’s Railway Revolution
Sharing the progress made under Modi’s leadership, CM Patel revealed that Gujarat has seen the electrification of 3,144 kilometers of railway lines since 2014. Today, 97% of the railway routes in the state are electrified—a significant leap toward sustainable and efficient transport.
He further mentioned the impressive ₹17,155 crore allocation for Gujarat in the Railway Budget 2025-26, which is 29 times higher than the average allocation between 2009 and 2014. “This reflects the Centre’s unwavering commitment to Gujarat’s development,” the CM added.
Highlighting the state’s growing rail connectivity, CM Patel pointed out the addition of four Vande Bharat trains in Gujarat’s network. “Thanks to the Prime Minister’s foresight, tourists from across India and abroad can now conveniently travel to the world-famous Statue of Unity in Ekta Nagar,” he noted.
Widespread Praise and Local Gratitude
Surendranagar MP Chandu Shihora emphasized the broader goal of the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. “Old railway stations are being transformed with modern facilities and cutting-edge technology. Vande Bharat trains are the hallmark of this transformation,” he said.
Limbdi MLA Kiritsinh Rana expressed his gratitude, stating, “Even in a taluka like Limbdi, we now have railway station facilities that match those of big cities. We are thankful to the Government of India for this remarkable development.”
Attendees at the Limbdi station viewed the live broadcast of the nationwide event where PM Modi inaugurated 103 railway stations under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. CM Patel also toured the renovated Limbdi station, inspecting the new passenger amenities and gathering feedback on the services provided.
