Mumbai, June 5, 2026: Environmental awareness took center stage in Mumbai as Bhamla Foundation hosted a grand World Environment Day 2026 celebration at Carter Road Amphitheatre, bringing together government leaders, environmental champions, artists, and citizens under a shared commitment towards a greener future.
The event was attended by Hon’ble Governor of Maharashtra Shri Jishnu Dev Varma, who joined Asif Bhamla, Chairman of Bhamla Foundation, in highlighting the growing need for collective environmental action. The gathering reflected the Foundation’s continued efforts to encourage sustainability through public participation and community engagement.
With climate change and environmental conservation becoming increasingly important global priorities, Bhamla Foundation used the occasion to launch a nationwide awareness initiative designed to inspire individuals and institutions to adopt environmentally responsible practices. The campaign aims to create greater awareness around issues such as waste management, urban greening, conservation, and sustainable living.
Addressing the audience, Asif Bhamla emphasized that environmental protection cannot be achieved by governments or organizations alone. He noted that meaningful change requires active involvement from every citizen and called for greater collaboration between communities, institutions, and policymakers.
One of the major attractions of the evening was the presentation of Environmental Leadership Awards, recognizing individuals and organizations that have made noteworthy contributions towards environmental preservation and social impact. The awards celebrated efforts that have helped promote sustainability and positive change across different sectors.

The event also witnessed the participation of several well-known personalities from the fields of music, cinema, television, wellness, and public life. Their presence helped amplify the message of environmental responsibility and reinforced the importance of using influential platforms to create awareness about climate-related challenges.
Over the years, Bhamla Foundation has established itself as a leading force in environmental advocacy through a wide range of initiatives. From tree plantation drives and beach clean-up campaigns to waste management programmes and public awareness activities, the Foundation has consistently focused on creating tangible environmental impact.
The organization has worked closely with civic authorities, educational institutions, businesses, and volunteers to implement projects that contribute to cleaner surroundings and stronger environmental consciousness. These efforts have helped engage thousands of people in activities aimed at preserving natural resources and promoting sustainable practices.
The World Environment Day celebration in Mumbai served as another milestone in Bhamla Foundation’s environmental journey. By creating a platform that connects leadership, culture, and community action, the Foundation continues to inspire people to take ownership of environmental challenges and become part of the solution.
As India advances towards a more sustainable future, Bhamla Foundation remains committed to driving awareness, encouraging responsible action, and fostering partnerships that support long-term environmental progress.
