AHMEDABAD: A murder that sent shockwaves through Punjab has now led investigators to Ahmedabad, where the Crime Branch arrested a key accused allegedly involved in the shooting of social media influencer Mad Sandhu in Amritsar. The accused, identified as Parminder Kaka alias Parminder Prasad, allegedly pulled the trigger before fleeing Punjab after the October 3 killing.
Mad Sandhu, also known as Madhusudan Sandhu, was shot dead on Loharka Road in Amritsar around 6 pm. A prominent social media influencer, makeup artist and fashion designer, Sandhu was also a well-known figure in the LGBTQ community.
According to police, Sandhu had dropped his car for washing and was waiting nearby when two men arrived on a motorcycle. The assailants allegedly approached him and fired two to three rounds before escaping.
Sandhu was rushed to a hospital but succumbed to his injuries while being taken there.
The murder was claimed on social media through a Facebook page named ‘Goldy Dhillon’, prompting investigators to intensify their search for the assailants.
A case was registered at the Cantonment Police Station in Amritsar, following which Punjab Police began tracking the suspects.
The breakthrough came after the Ahmedabad Crime Branch received information that one of the accused had fled to Gujarat. Acting on the tip-off, officers traced and arrested Parminder Kaka.
Crime Branch officials said the accused allegedly arrived at the murder spot on a motorcycle and opened fire at Sandhu. After the killing, he reportedly fled Punjab and reached Ahmedabad in an attempt to evade arrest.
An officer said, “The accused is currently being interrogated to establish the sequence of events, his role in the murder and possible links with others involved.”
The accused will be handed over to the Punjab Police after questioning in Ahmedabad. Investigators are expected to probe the alleged gang connection and identify the second assailant involved in the killing.
