Surat : The issue of driving schools issuing certificates for heavy vehicles without providing proper training to drivers has become a serious concern in many parts of the world. In Surat, Gujarat, this problem has been rampant for some time now, with the Regional Transport Office (RTO) officers and driving school owners collaborating to issue fake certificates to drivers of  heavy vehicles such as trucks and trailers.

The driving schools in Udhana and Dindoli areas in Surat have been accused of issuing fake certificates to drivers who want to obtain driving licenses for heavy vehicles. These certificates are being issued without providing any training to the drivers, which has resulted in a large number of road mishaps in the city.

Darshan Naik, general secretary of Gujarat Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) has represented to Minister of State for Transportation Harsh Sanghavi to carry out investigation against the driving schools issuing certificates for heavy vehicles without giving proper training to the drivers.

“The drivers who have received these fake certificates are not adequately trained to handle heavy vehicles, which can result in severe accidents on the roads. The lack of training can cause them to make dangerous mistakes, endangering their own lives and the lives of other drivers on the road” said Naik.

It is alarming that the RTO officers, who are responsible for ensuring that only qualified drivers are issued licenses, are involved in this illegal activity. This not only reflects poorly on their professional conduct but also puts the safety of citizens at risk.

The issue of non-trained drivers operating heavy vehicles is not limited to Surat; it is a problem that exists in many other parts of the world. Many accidents involving heavy vehicles can be attributed to inadequate training, leading to the loss of lives and property damage.

The Gujarat Government must take immediate action to address this issue and conduct a detailed investigation into the heavy vehicles training schools in Udhana and Dindoli areas in Surat involved in this illegal activity. The authorities should also take steps to ensure that only qualified drivers are issued driving licenses.

In conclusion, the issue of driving schools issuing certificates for heavy vehicles without providing proper training to drivers is a severe concern in Surat, Gujarat. The involvement of RTO officers in this illegal activity is shocking and must be addressed urgently. The government must take action to ensure that only qualified drivers are issued driving licenses to avoid accidents and protect the safety of citizens.
