Vadodara | Gujarat — As Gujarat prepares to showcase its economic strength through the upcoming Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conference in Vadodara, one institution is rapidly gaining national prominence for building the workforce that will power India’s future transport and logistics network. Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya (GSV), the country’s first Central University dedicated exclusively to transportation and logistics, is emerging as a key driver of innovation, research and skill development.

Established in 2022 with support from the Central and Gujarat governments, the university has become a centre for next-generation learning in sectors critical to India’s growth, including railways, aviation, maritime, metro systems, highways, supply chain management and artificial intelligence.

“GSV is not just an academic institution; it is an industry-integrated ecosystem designed to prepare students for real-world challenges in transportation and logistics,” a university official said.

Located in Vadodara’s Lalbaug area, the university currently hosts more than 1,000 students from over 23 states. A second campus at Waghodia is also under development, reflecting the institution’s rapid expansion and growing national footprint.

The university’s programmes are aligned with the Centre’s PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan and National Logistics Policy, ensuring students are trained for emerging opportunities in one of the world’s fastest-growing infrastructure sectors.

What sets GSV apart is its strong industry-academia collaboration. Students gain hands-on experience through internships, live projects, railway training institutes and research initiatives. The university has partnered with leading organisations including Airbus, Siemens, L&T, Amazon, DRDO, Nokia, SAP, DFCCIL and Monash University to drive innovation and applied research.

“Practical exposure and industry engagement are central to our educational model, helping students transition seamlessly into professional careers,” an academic representative noted.

GSV has also delivered impressive placement outcomes, with more than 60 reputed companies participating in recruitment drives. Placement rates have reached 91 per cent in 2025 and 89 per cent in 2026, highlighting strong industry confidence in its graduates.
