Ahmedabad | Gujarat — A wave of bomb threat emails targeting some of Gujarat’s most sensitive government and organizational offices triggered a major security scare on Tuesday, prompting emergency evacuations, intensive searches and a statewide security alert. Threatening emails claiming to be from the “Khalistan National Army” warned of explosions at the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) in Gandhinagar, the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) headquarters and the RSS office in Ahmedabad at specific times during the day.

The alarming messages claimed that bombs would explode at the CMO at 1:11 pm, the AMC headquarters at 3:11 pm and the RSS office at 5:11 pm. As soon as the emails were received, police, Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) personnel, fire officials and cyber crime teams rushed to the locations and launched extensive search operations.

The threat came at a politically significant moment, as Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel was in New Delhi for meetings, including engagements related to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s schedule. Security agencies immediately treated the threat as a high-priority matter, triggering coordinated responses across multiple departments.

At the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation’s Danapith headquarters, authorities swiftly evacuated the premises. Staff members, elected representatives and senior office-bearers, including the mayor, deputy mayor, standing committee chairman, ruling party leaders and administrative officials, were asked to move out while search teams combed through the building.

Police and fire personnel conducted detailed inspections inside Sardar Patel Bhavan and other sections of the AMC complex. Similar security checks were carried out at the RSS office in Maninagar, while Gandhinagar authorities completed searches at the Chief Minister’s Office.

Officials later confirmed that no suspicious object or explosive material was found during the searches conducted at the CMO. Investigations at other locations also did not yield any evidence of an actual bomb threat.

AMC Standing Committee Chairman Kamlesh Patel said immediate action was taken upon receiving the email. “As soon as the threatening email was received, police and fire brigade teams were deployed and the premises were evacuated. The source of the email is being investigated thoroughly. Such messages are often intended to create panic among citizens, but all security protocols have been followed,” he said.

Investigators are also examining similarities between the Gujarat threat emails and a previous incident reported in Punjab. On May 25, senior officials of the Ludhiana Municipal Corporation reportedly received emails threatening to bomb the residence of singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh and the office of Ludhiana Mayor Inderjit Kaur. Authorities have noted that both threats carried a similar format and were allegedly issued in the name of the Khalistan National Army.

Cyber crime experts are now tracing the origin of the emails, analysing IP trails, server routes and digital footprints to determine whether the threats originated from a coordinated network or were part of a hoax campaign designed to spread fear. Meanwhile, security has been intensified at key government installations and public institutions across Gujarat as the investigation continues.
