Junagadh: Govind Dholakia, the visionary chairman of Shri Ramkrishna Exports, captivated students at University Noble in Junagadh with a motivational lecture that delved into the future of the diamond industry. Sharing his decades of experience, Dholakia emphasized the rising prominence of lab-grown diamonds and their potential to reshape the global diamond market.

Dholakia projected that lab-grown diamonds, currently measured in carats, will soon be traded in kilos and tonnes due to their surging global demand. “The lab-grown diamond industry is witnessing unprecedented growth, driven by advancements in technology and consumer preferences,” he stated.

He acknowledged the challenges faced by the natural diamond industry, attributing its ongoing recession to a significant shift in consumer behavior toward lab-grown diamonds. However, he expressed optimism about the current performance of the natural diamond market, saying, “The natural diamond industry is doing well now, and we remain hopeful about its continued growth.”

Lab-Grown Diamonds to Capture 25% Market Share

Highlighting the promising future of lab-grown diamonds, Dholakia predicted that they would soon capture a significant share of the global market. “Currently, natural diamonds account for less than 1-2% of the market, while lab-grown diamonds are poised to secure 25% of the global share,” he explained.

The shift toward lab-grown diamonds is driven by their affordability, ethical appeal, and environmental sustainability compared to natural diamonds. This trend is reshaping consumer preferences, particularly among the younger generation.

Industry Insights

Dholakia’s insights resonated with the students, many of whom aspire to build careers in the diamond and jewelry industry. He encouraged them to embrace innovation and sustainability, highlighting the importance of adapting to changing market dynamics.

As the chairman of Shri Ramkrishna Exports, a leading diamond manufacturing and exporting company, Dholakia’s predictions carry significant weight in the industry. His lecture not only inspired students but also provided valuable perspectives on the evolving diamond market.
