Ahmedabad : 15-year-old, Aarya Chavda, a young prodigy has brought laurels to the heritage city of Ahmedabad after her work ‘Voice from the Future’ has been featured in the World Heritage Magazine, published by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO), Paris. 

Aarya Chavda was presented with the World Heritage Magazine by Director of World Heritage Committee (WHC) Lazare Eloundou at the recently concluded 46th session of the WHC held in New Delhi. 

 

Ahmedabad Prodigy Aarya Chavda's Work Featured in UNESCO's World Heritage Magazine

As an integral part of the 46th session of the World Heritage Committee and in the framework of the UNESCO World Heritage Education Program, the World heritage Young Professionals Forum 2024 was held, under the theme of ‘World Heritage in 21st Century: Building capacities and exploring opportunities for Youth’. During the event, delegates from 31 countries  convened to discuss and collaborate on preserving our shared cultural, natural and mixed heritage.  

On the first day of the Forum, Aarya Chavda was given the opportunity by UNESCO HQ, Paris to present her work on cultural heritage and interact with young delegates across the globe. During her 15-minute talk, she emphasised on how the youth plays an integral role in preservation of our local cultural heritage. She further adds that, ‘A common thread of culture binds us with our past, present and future, encouraging us to carry our confluence of cultural legacies forward, to ensure that we are connecting our future to our past.

Aarya was honored to present her 11th book, “We are One”, to the UNESCO ADG-Culture,  Ernesto Ottone, which shares the message of hope that culture unites humanity and urges us to live in progressive harmony. 

On July 21, Aarya was invited by UNESCO Headquarters, Paris to attend the Opening Ceremony of the 46th session, at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi. The opening ceremony was inaugurated by Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi. Prominent personalities including Director-General of UNESCO,  Audrey Azoulay along with Minister of Culture, Minister of Foreign Affairs, GoI, and delegates from over 150 nations, attended the event.
