Former Anand RAC Ketki Vyas Arrested in DA Case

AHMEDABAD: Former Anand Resident Additional Collector Ketki Vyas, who came under scrutiny in the controversial Anand Collector honeytrap case, has been arrested by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) in an alleged disproportionate assets case involving properties worth ₹3.56 crore more than her known income.

The arrest followed the rejection of Vyas’ anticipatory bail applications by the Sessions Court and the Gujarat High Court. According to the ACB, she did not appear before investigators after the court’s decision, prompting the agency to seek assistance from the Ahmedabad Crime Branch.

Investigators traced Vyas to her sister’s residence in Shela, Ahmedabad, where she was subsequently arrested.

The ACB had begun investigating Vyas following a complaint filed in 2023 alleging that she had accumulated assets disproportionate to her known sources of income. The agency claimed its investigation found properties and other assets valued at around ₹3.56 crore beyond her salary income.

According to investigators, a substantial portion of the allegedly disproportionate assets was held or settled in the names of Vyas’ parents in Viramgam. The ACB is examining how the properties were acquired and the source of funds involved.

“The investigation revealed assets allegedly disproportionate to her known income, following which a case was registered and further legal action initiated,” ACB officials said.

Vyas entered government service as a Chief Officer in 2001 and subsequently served in various administrative positions, eventually becoming Resident Additional Collector of Anand.

Her name had earlier surfaced in the 2023 Anand Collector honeytrap controversy, in which she was accused along with other individuals of involvement in an alleged conspiracy involving then Collector D S Gadhvi. The government had suspended the officials following their arrests.

The ACB investigation into the alleged disproportionate assets case is continuing.
