VADODARA,GUJARAT : In a major crackdown, the District Local Crime Branch (LCB) seized a large quantity of liquor valued at Rs 44,83,200 from a cement mixer container late Monday night. The operation took place on the outskirts of Ajod village, along the express highway near Vadodara. The police have arrested the driver of the container and initiated further actions.

Providing details of the operation, District Local Crime Branch PI Krunal Patel stated that the LCB team was patrolling the Manjusar police area when they received intelligence about a cement mixer container transporting a substantial quantity of liquor via the express highway. Acting on this information, the LCB team was strategically deployed near Ajod village.

Upon spotting the suspicious container, the police intercepted and detained the driver, Chadmal Meena. During questioning, Meena’s evasive responses aroused further suspicion. A thorough search of the container revealed 934 cartons of Indian-made foreign liquor hidden inside. The contraband was then transported to the Manjusar police station for detailed examination.

PI Krunal Patel noted that the container appeared specifically modified for the purpose of smuggling liquor, with “Wonder Cement” misleadingly written on it to avert suspicion. However, the attempt to deceive the authorities was foiled by the vigilant LCB team.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the liquor shipment originated from Rajasthan and was destined for Ahmedabad. The police believe more startling revelations could emerge following the arrest of an individual known as Raju, who is currently at large. Meanwhile, the total value of the seized liquor and the container amounts to Rs 59,88,200.

Head Constable Devraj Singh of the District Local Crime Branch has lodged a complaint at the Manjusar Police Station concerning this incident. Following this, the Manjusar Police registered a case and arrested the accused, Chandmal Savjibhai Meena, a resident of Kamaria Phala Pipli, Village-Taluka Risabhdev, Rajasthan.

This late-night operation has caused significant disruption among the bootlegging community, highlighting their increasingly sophisticated methods to evade law enforcement. Despite their efforts, the police continue to thwart such attempts, as evidenced by this successful seizure.

The incident has also sparked a broader investigation into the liquor smuggling network operating in the region. Authorities are hopeful that the arrest of absconding Raju and further inquiries will dismantle the illegal operations and bring those responsible to justice.
