Gandhinagar: Students and faculty members from Swarrnim International School situated in Adalaj, Gandhinagar, marked Rakshabandhan Celebrations on Sunday – August 18, with doctors at Zydus Hospital in Hebatpur area of Ahmedabad. Guided by three faculty members of the school, some four students from Grade 4-7 tied Rakhis on the wrists of 10 doctors at the hospital. The gesture was an expression of gratitude and appreciation for the medical fraternity.

The celebration was organised in solidarity with the recent tragic incident involving a Kolkata-based doctor who was raped and murdered. In light of the incident, the community Swarrnim International School made a humble effort raise awareness about safety of women and the safety of doctors and medical professionals.

Speaking about the initiative, Mr Rishabh Jain, President, Swarrnim International School, said, “This Rakshabandhan celebration is our humble attempt to instil respect and empathy towards doctors, medical professionals among our students. We want to teach our children the importance of gratitude and the vital role these healthcare heroes play in our lives.”

The event was a reminder of the vital role that doctors play in society and the need to ensure their safety and dignity.

Sharing her views, Ms Nashy Chauhan, Director General, Swarrnim International School said, “At Swarrnim International School, we strive to nurture students not just for excellence in academics alone, but also to shape compassionate and empathetic individuals. With such an initiative, we are teaching our students the importance of respect and gratitude towards those who dedicate their lives for the well-being of others.”

Students gave a card with Rakhis affixed and a heartwarming message to the doctors. They also expressed their gratitude to the doctors during the interactions.

Aradhya Mani, a Grade 7 student said, “Today, we’re here to share a bit of happiness with you all. This is just a small gesture to show our appreciation for your hard work in saving lives and making them better every single day. We want you to know how much we value what you do.”

Another 4th Grade student, Preet Trivedi, said, “I’m really happy to share this small gesture of gratitude with you. Thank you, doctors, for saving so many lives, especially during the tough times of COVID-19. You put us above your own lives and those of your families. Please keep saving lives, and while you do, remember to take care of your own health too.”
