Surat: In a major push to boost beach tourism in Gujarat, the Suvali Beach near Surat is set to undergo significant development, thanks to the efforts of Choryasi MLA Sandeep Desai and the guidance of State BJP President CR Paatil. A series of projects, including the construction of a rest house and the installation of solar streetlights, have been initiated to attract tourists and enhance the region’s infrastructure.

The government has allocated 4,800 sq.m. of unutilized land near Suvali Beach for the construction of a state-of-the-art rest house at an estimated cost of ₹4.71 crore. This facility, to be built by the Roads and Building Department, will provide visitors with a scenic view of the seashore and modern amenities. Additionally, a public toilet will be constructed on the beach at a cost of ₹30 lakh, addressing a long-standing need for better sanitation facilities in the area.

Under the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative of AM/NS India, 350 solar-powered streetlights will be installed along the road from Mora crossroads to Suvali Beach. This project will ensure better lighting and safety for tourists, especially during the evening hours, while promoting eco-friendly practices.

Speaking about the project, MLA Sandeep Desai highlighted the economic and recreational benefits the Suvali Beach Development Project will bring to the region. “These developments will not only make Suvali Beach a popular tourist destination but also create self-employment opportunities for the local community. During the Suvali Beach Festival-2, we saw a footfall of 3 lakh visitors, and the beach continues to attract around 10,000 tourists on weekends. These numbers reflect the beach’s potential as a key tourist attraction,” he said.

To address the issue of traffic congestion, a proposal has been submitted to convert the narrow single-lane road leading to the beach into a two-lane road. This upgrade aims to streamline the flow of vehicles and ensure a smoother travel experience for visitors.

Suvali Beach is already known for its tranquil atmosphere and picturesque views. With the addition of modern infrastructure, it is poised to become a prominent destination for both local and out-of-state tourists. The combination of government and private sector initiatives is expected to create a sustainable tourism model, benefiting the local economy and enhancing Surat’s reputation as a travel destination.

The Suvali Beach Development Project is yet another testament to the ongoing efforts of the Gujarat government to promote tourism and infrastructure development in the state. With these advancements, Suvali Beach is set to emerge as a shining example of how natural beauty and modern amenities can coexist.
