Surat : Surat is poised to witness a dynamic confluence of textile innovation and entrepreneurial prowess as the Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SGCCI) gears up to host the much-anticipated ‘SGCCI Garment Expo 2023.’

This two-day extravaganza, known for its vendor networking opportunities, aims to unite textile entrepreneurs on a singular platform, propelling garment manufacturing to new heights within the city.

Scheduled to commence on December 27,  Surat Municipal Commissioner Shalini Agarwal will inaugurate the exhibition  alongside the presence of Uma Reddy, Vice President of the Federation of Karnataka Chambers of Commerce and Industry as chief guest.

Ramesh Vaghasia, President of SGCCI, highlighted the expo’s mission, stating, “SGCCI Garment Expo-2023 has been orchestrated to transform South Gujarat, particularly Surat, into a thriving garment hub. Our objective extends beyond congregating current garment entrepreneurs; we aspire to mentor and guide aspiring individuals seeking to venture into the garment industry, fostering small and large-scale units.”

The expo promises a comprehensive display of essentials pivotal for setting up a garment unit, ranging from machinery, threads, laces, buttons to color analysis tools and fashion design insights. Over 40 prominent suppliers from the garment industry will exhibit their merchandise, offering abundant vendor sourcing opportunities and fostering collaborations within the garment and fashion sector.

Bijal Jariwala, Group Chairman of SGCCI, outlined the enriching components of the expo, emphasizing, “The ‘Garment Conclave’ will be a focal point, guiding entrepreneurs through fashion forecasting, garment manufacturing, color coordination, and the integration of artificial intelligence.” Notably, a captivating kids’ fashion show is also slated to grace the event, adding a dash of youthful exuberance to the proceedings.

Of particular interest is the session on ‘Artificial Intelligence with Fashion,’ scheduled for December 28, where industry experts will delve into the transformative implementation of AI in the garment and fashion domain. Featured speakers like Kavita Gondlia will shed light on this integration, while Swati Tiwari from the Institute of Design and Technology will impart invaluable insights to entrepreneurs and aspiring fashion students.

“With an array of expertise, innovation, and networking opportunities in store, the SGCCI Garment Expo 2023 is set to not only catalyze Surat’s ascent as a garmenting hub within South Gujarat but also significantly benefit the broader garment industry across the state. As the countdown begins, anticipation brews for a transformative event that could reshape the landscape of garment manufacturing and fashion innovation in the region” Dr. Ajoy Bhattacharya, president of CMAI (Gujarat chapter).
