Ganesh Visarjan 2026: Gujarat Bids Farewell to Bappa

SURAT: Gujarat turned into a sea of devotees on Friday as the 10-day Ganeshotsav 2026 concluded with grand Ganesh Visarjan processions on Anant Chaturdashi. From Surat to Rajkot and Vadodara, thousands gathered to bid an emotional farewell to Lord Ganesha.

In Surat, immersion processions began early morning, with towering idols moving through major roads and drawing huge crowds. Several processions carried a message of world peace through Tiranga Yatras, while Bhagal witnessed a major gathering of devotees. At Hazira, massive idols measuring 20 to 28 feet were immersed amid elaborate arrangements.

Surat Police deployed GPS-based tracking systems on vehicles carrying large idols to monitor their movement and prevent delays during the immersion of nearly 90,000 idols.

The system allows the police control room to track vehicles in real time and quickly send assistance if a vehicle breaks down or gets delayed.

The arrangements are being monitored under the leadership of Surat Police Commissioner Bawang Zamir.

In Rajkot, devotees described the farewell as deeply emotional.

“For ten days, Bappa became a part of our family. Saying goodbye today feels like a family member is leaving,” said devotee Sonaliben.

As idols entered the waters, chants of “Ganpati Bappa Morya” echoed across Gujarat, marking the festival’s traditional farewell.
