SURAT : A second liquor party in just two days has put Surat’s high-profile social circles under the police scanner, with six businessmen allegedly caught consuming foreign liquor without permission at a luxury residential complex on Dumas Road late Saturday night.
The raid was conducted on August 16 at Flat No. 1317 in Tower-B of Rajhans Belliza, located in the Silent Zone area. Police allegedly found six men consuming liquor at the flat and arrested all of them under the Gujarat Prohibition Act.
All six accused are below 35 years of age and are residents of prominent areas of Surat.
Police identified the accused as flat owner Anup Purushottambhai Pampaliya, 34, of Ghoddod Road; Gopal Omprakash Rathi, 34; Dheeraj Jagdishbhai Pampaliya, 27, of Bhatar; Anand Bhagirath Pampaliya, 30, of Umra; Mudasir Nazir Mankada, 34, of Adajan Patiya; and Gagan Santoshkumar Chandak, 24, of Choryasi.
“This was an unauthorised liquor gathering, and action has been taken against all six persons found at the premises,” police said.
During the operation, officers seized 14 bottles of foreign liquor valued at ₹1,07,180. Police also confiscated eight mobile phones estimated at ₹4 lakh and a car valued at ₹5 lakh. The total value of the seized items was put at ₹10,07,180.
The latest raid comes just two days after police busted another high-profile liquor party at Jashn Villa 12-A in Bapuji’s Wadi, Dumas. In that case, 22 young men and women were allegedly caught consuming liquor during a birthday celebration.
Police had reportedly found drinking games involving Ludo, Snakes and Ladders and cards at the farmhouse party.
The back-to-back raids have intensified scrutiny of private parties in Surat’s luxury residential and farmhouse properties, with police maintaining that violations of Gujarat’s prohibition laws will invite strict action.
