Surat : 22-year-old girl killed by Deadly Kite String

Surat : In a chilling reminder of the dangers posed by the razor-sharp “Manja” kite string, a 22-year-old girl’s  life was tragically cut short while she rode her two-wheeler on the Nana Varachha flyover.

The incident unfolded around 6:15 pm on Thursday, as Dikshita Thummar sped along the sloping incline. In a flash, the invisible menace struck – a seemingly harmless kite string, laced with deadly glass or metal shards, sliced through the air, finding its mark on Dikshita’s throat. Rushed to AAIMS hospital in Simada, she fought for her life, but the battle was lost.

News of the tragedy sent shockwaves through Surat. Dikshita, a college student known for her infectious smile and bright spirit, was deeply loved by her family and friends. The residents of Amrut Residency in Mota Varachha, where she resided with her parents and brother, were left reeling, their hearts heavy with grief and anger.

Adding to the family’s anguish is the perplexing mystery surrounding the incident. Despite an initial investigation, the Kapodra police have yet to find the string that claimed Dikshita’s life. No remnants were found on her body or at the flyover, leaving her loved ones and the community grappling with a chilling possibility – was this a random act of negligence, or something more sinister?
