Rajkot : In a tragic incident, three individuals, including a delivery boy from Swiggy, lost their lives in a devastating fire that erupted on the fifth and sixth floors of the Atlantis building on the 150-foot ring road in Rajkot during the Dhuleti festival.  The individuals who lost their lives have been identified as Ajay Makwana, employed as a delivery boy for Swiggy, along with Kalpesh Leva and Mayur Leva.

Tragedy struck as a delivery man named Ajaybhai lost his life while attempting to deliver a parcel in a building that was engulfed in flames.  In a heartbreaking turn of events, he departed, leaving his wife and their three and a half year old daughter in tears.

A preliminary investigation has revealed that furniture work was taking place in the flat on the sixth floor of the building where the fire ignited due to a short circuit.  As the flames erupted, people were evacuated from the upper level using a hydraulic lift.  The Atlantis building is home to the owners of famous jewelers in Rajkot, along with the families of well-known doctors.

Ajaybhai Khimjibhai Makwana, a 31-year-old resident of Veer Savarkar Nagar in Rajkot, tragically lost his life in this accident. He was employed at Swiggy.  A tragic incident occurred when he went to deliver a parcel in the building affected by the accident, resulting in him being engulfed in flames.  The late Ajaybhai leaves behind a 3.5-year-old daughter named Disha and was the elder of two brothers in the family.

Upon hearing about the incident, the family, including his wife, quickly made their way to the hospital.  Upon receiving the information from her husband, the wife collapsed in tears.  The wife expressed her disappointment, stating that she had requested him to take the day off for the festival, but he chose not to and mentioned he would arrive in the afternoon to join for dinner.  How could I have anticipated that his afternoon would arrive.

Rajkot Deputy Commissioner of Police Zone-2  Jagdish Bangarwa stated that police personnel arrived at the scene after being alerted to a fire that had erupted in a flat on the sixth floor of the Atlantis building located on Rajkot 150 feet ring road.  Five individuals sustained injuries in the fire incident, resulting in three fatalities. One person remains hospitalized for treatment, while another has been treated for minor injuries and subsequently discharged.

Authorities have confirmed the late Ajay Makwana was employed as a delivery boy at Swiggy, while Kalpeshbhai and Mayurbhai were part of the team at Blinkit Company.

A fire ignited as a result of a short circuit.

The investigation has revealed that a short circuit is the main cause of the fire, and assistance from FSL and PGVCL has been sought to determine the precise origin.  The Malviyanagar Police are set to look into the case of the accidental death.  An investigation will be carried out to determine if there was a fire NOC in this building or if there was a BU permission granted.  The authorities have moved all three bodies for examination and are proceeding with the required measures.
