Subhash Ghai makes it to the World Book of Records London for his 55 years of contribution to Indian cinema
Mumbai : Legendary Bollywood screenwriter, filmmaker, and producer In recognition of his work over the course of 55 years, Bollywood producer Shri Subhash Ghai of Mumbai, India, is recognised in the World Book of Records as a forerunner in the digital revolution, having introduced digital projections systems into theatres and fostering the careers of countless aspiring actors, technicians, and performers. In 1991, at NSCI in Mumbai, India, renowned Hindi film writer, director, and producer Shri Subhash Ghai conceived and directed the magnum audio-visual stage show “Cinema Cinema,” honouring 100 years of world cinema with 42 Bollywood stars, 200 musicians, and 250 dancers on a 180 feet stage.
Barrister Santosh Shukla (President & CEO, World Book of Records) presented Shri Subhash Ghai with a certificate in the presence of Mr. Usman Khan, Dr. Suchita Shukla, and Ms. Parul Chawla. Shri Ghai, notably, began his career in Hindi cinema as an actor, appearing in films like Taqdeer (1967) and Aradhana (1969) in supporting roles (1969). In the 1970s, he headed Umang and Gumraah as their leader. Shatrughan Sinha was instrumental in getting him the role of director on the film Kalicharan (1976). In 2016, he had already penned and directed 16 films. Whistling Woods International, a film school he founded in 2006, opened its doors in Mumbai. The institute offers courses in all aspects of the film industry, including writing, directing, cinematography, acting, and animation. British and South African officials had previously sought out his assistance in institution-building. The World War I teams he has coached have been instrumental in helping the Hong Kong government market the city to tourists. He was awarded the Karmaveer Chakra by the United Nations and the International Confederation of NGOs in December 2013 for his work as an educator in India to advance cinematic and entertainment-related education and training.
