Six Killed as Pickup Van Overturns in Gujarat’s Valsad District

At least six people lost their lives and several others were injured after a tragic road accident in Gujarat’s Valsad district, where a pickup van overturned on Wednesday evening.

How the Accident Happened

According to police reports, the pickup van was carrying around 28 to 30 passengers who were travelling from Girnara village to attend a family function.

The accident occurred near Virkshetra in Kaprada taluka when the driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle, causing it to overturn.

Casualties and Injuries

Officials confirmed that:

• 6 people died on the spot
• Several others sustained injuries
• 10 injured passengers were shifted to Kaprada Community Health Centre (CHC) for treatment

Police said the deceased included three children, two women, and one man.

Police Investigation

Inspector D.N. Vanza of Kaprada police station stated that the vehicle overturned due to loss of control. Authorities have launched a detailed investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident, including possible overloading and road conditions.

Emergency Response

Local residents and emergency teams rushed to the site soon after the accident. The injured were transported to nearby medical facilities for urgent care.

Officials said the situation was brought under control after rescue operations were completed.

PM Modi Expresses Condolences

Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed grief over the tragedy and extended condolences to the families of the deceased.

In a statement posted by the Prime Minister’s Office on X, he said:

“The loss of lives due to a mishap in Valsad, Gujarat, is saddening. My thoughts are with the bereaved families in this hour of grief. Praying for the swift recovery of the injured.”

Authorities are continuing to investigate the incident, with focus on vehicle capacity, road safety conditions, and driver control at the time of the accident.
