Surat : The National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) has come under scrutiny due to their perceived inaction in addressing the persistent issues faced by commuters on the Hazira-Magdalla National Highway No. 53. The latest incident highlighting this issue occurred when Mayur Golwala, the secretary of Sachin Industrial Cooperative Society overseeing Gujarat’s largest Sachin GIDC estate, took proactive measures to resolve the serious traffic jam at Sachin GIDC’s Gate No. 1.

For hours during peak traffic times, Hazira-Magadalla National Highway No. 53 has been marred by severe traffic congestion. Despite previous representations made to higher authorities, no significant action was taken. Frustrated by the inaction and seeing the necessity for a solution, Mayur Golwala personally intervened.

Late in the evening, he took the officials of the Bhatia Toll Plaza, including Abhishek Singh Rajput and Manish Kumar, on a one-kilometer walk to showcase the traffic issues and provide potential solutions.

The bottleneck occurs primarily at Sachin GIDC’s Gate No. 1, where long queues of vehicles amass due to it being the sole entry-exit point. Golwala proposed a practical solution: temporarily opening the divider for entry to Sachin GIDC Gate No. 2 and implementing zig-zag barricading to slow down the speed of vehicles approaching the flyover bridge. He emphasized that this simple adjustment could potentially alleviate 50 percent of the traffic congestion along National Highway No. 53.

Accompanied by Toll Manager Abhishek Singh Rajput and Senior Manager Manish Kumar, Golwala meticulously inspected the highway for nearly two hours. Both officials pledged to take immediate action to address the traffic congestion issue. They assured Golwala that efforts would be made to implement the proposed solution promptly.

Golwala’s proactive approach in taking the toll plaza officials directly to the problematic area and providing feasible solutions underscores a dire need for hands-on problem-solving and a proactive stance in dealing with traffic issues.

The incident serves as a poignant reminder of the importance of collaborative efforts between local authorities and stakeholders to swiftly address challenges affecting daily commuters. This proactive step highlights the potential for on-ground solutions and the significance of local input in resolving traffic congestion issues on crucial highways.

As the NHAI and local authorities work in tandem to address the concerns raised by individuals like Golwala, it is hoped that such proactive initiatives will pave the way for more efficient and timely resolutions to traffic issues, ensuring smoother and safer journeys for commuters along the Hazira-Magdalla National Highway No. 53.
