Ahmedabad | Gujarat — Ahmedabad-headquartered textile-to-solar diversified conglomerate, Chiripal Group on Sunday hosted the second tournament of the Chiripal Chess Series 2026 at Gotila Garden on Sindhu Bhavan Road. The initiative was held in continuation of its Open Street Chess initiative aimed at taking chess into public spaces and encouraging wider participation across age groups.

The second tournament of the series saw participation from more than 200 chess enthusiasts, including children and emerging players, reflecting growing interest in the initiative.

Among the rated players Adalja Vanssh A, Sohil Shaikh, Jay Urveshkumar Mehta, Divyansh Rajani, Akshay Shegaonkar, Aarav Arpit Shah, Geet H Dabhi, Raaj Bajaj, Dhruv Mistry, and Karm Jignesh Shah were declared winners of the Second tournament, in the three-tournament series.

Similarly, Nilesh Gupta, Sagar Parmar, Devasya Thakar were declared winners among unrated players.

“Following the encouraging response to the opening event, it is heartening to see the momentum continue with strong participation at Gotila Garden. Through this series, we aim to build a more inclusive and engaging chess culture in Ahmedabad by bringing the game closer to communities and inspiring young and first-time players to take part,” said Shri Ronak Chiripal, Promoter, Chiripal Group.

Organised under the guidance of nkit Dalal of My Sport Trip, the tournament followed a blitz format, with fast-paced games played at a time control of three minutes plus a two-second increment.

The series is designed to move chess beyond traditional indoor settings, creating accessible platforms for players to engage in competitive play within a structured yet open environment. Each tournament features a prize pool of Rs 25,000 along with vouchers worth Rs 1.5 lakh.

The initiative also continues to emphasise inclusivity, with visually  impaired players participating in the tournament. In addition, all participants under the age of 13 are being felicitated with medals across the series to encourage early engagement with the sport.

Adding to the excitement, Dev Patel, Secretary, All India Chess Federation (AICF) and President, Gujarat State Chess Association attended the event and interacted with aspiring players and young enthusiasts.

The inaugural edition of the Chiripal Chess Series was held at the Sabarmati Riverfront on March 15, where over 200 participants took part in the opening tournament, setting the tone for the citywide initiative.

The series will culminate with its final tournament at Ahmedabad One Mall on April 4, as Chiripal Group continues its effort to transform public spaces into vibrant arenas of strategic play.
