Chinese automaker BYD has officially revealed the next-generation BYD Atto 3 at the Beijing Auto Show 2026, showcasing major upgrades in range, design, and battery technology.
The new model, also known as the Yuan Plus in China, arrives as a significant upgrade over the existing version and comes shortly after the Atto 3 Evo update in India.
The new-gen Atto 3 features a refreshed exterior design with a redesigned front bumper, new LED lighting setup, and up to 19-inch alloy wheels. It also gets semi-flush door handles, a floating roof effect, and an illuminated BYD badge at the rear. In terms of size, the SUV is now longer, wider, and taller than before, with a 50mm longer wheelbase that improves interior space. Boot capacity has also increased to 750 litres, along with an additional 180 litres of frunk storage.
Inside, the cabin receives a more premium layout with a new two-spoke steering wheel, improved seat comfort with a reclining front passenger seat, and upgraded storage options including a heated and cooled compartment. The SUV also includes a panoramic glass roof, 256-colour ambient lighting, a 16-speaker audio system, 50W wireless charging, and 60W USB Type-C fast charging. In China, it will also offer a LiDAR-assisted advanced driving system.
The biggest highlight is the new second-generation Blade Battery technology, offered in two variants: 57.54kWh and 68.54kWh. These batteries deliver a CLTC range of up to 540km and 630km respectively. Power output ranges between 272hp and 327hp, depending on the variant. The model also introduces BYD’s new Flash Charging system, which can charge the battery from 10 percent to 97 percent in around 9 minutes.
Overall, the new BYD Atto 3 marks a major step forward in the company’s EV strategy, focusing on improved range, faster charging, and enhanced practicality. While global launch plans have not been confirmed, the SUV could eventually be introduced in international markets, including India.
