NABARD inaugurates its DDM Office in Tapi district

Surat : National Bank For Agriculture And Rural Development (NABARD) inaugurated its new District Development Manager (DDM) Office in Tapi.
B.K. Singhal, Chief General Manager, Gujarat Regional Office was present at the event where he highlighted the importance of this milestone event.
CGM recalled that in October 2022, then District Collector Bhargavi Dave had emphasised the need for a dedicated NABARD office in Tapi. Recognizing this requirement, NABARD took decisive steps and CGM expressed pride in the inauguration of a new office in Tapi. CGM extended his congratulations to Utkarsh Deshmukh, DDM, Tapi District in this regard.
During his address, CGM underscored that NABARD’s mission is to foster development in rural and tribal areas.
At the same time, CGM also addressed concerns related to low CD Ratio in the district and also decline in achievement in Annual Credit Plan.CGM outlined the three core aspects of credit: credit planning, credit disbursement, and credit monitoring. He emphasized NABARD’s role in credit planning, the LDM’s role in disbursement, and the joint effort in monitoring. He encouraged the DDM, Tapi to collaborate closely with the LDM and LDO, RBI to optimize credit functions and to conduct joint visits to branches with suboptimal performance to assess ground realities.
CGM also shared NABARD’s various interventions in Tapi District, including a ₹3 crore grant for tribal orchid development in Dolvan Block under the Tribal Development Fund (TDF), formation of Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs), a ₹30 lakh grant to Surat DCCB for mobile vans, computerization of PACS, financial literacy camps, and a ₹27 lakh grant for 120 Micro ATMs amongst others.
He urged the bank officials present to strive for 100% saturation under the PM KISAN scheme, noting the significant gap between sanctioned KCCs and PM KISAN beneficiaries. He also encouraged the bankers to maximise loan approvals for eligible KCC AH farmers to reduce loan rejection rates and to achieve high enrolment in social security schemes.
Acknowledging Tapi’s demographic profile, CGM called for intensified tribal development initiatives for the three major tribes (PVTGs) in the district: Kathodi, Kolgha and Kotwalia. He advised the DDM, Tapi, to scale up suitable tribal development projects through convergence with the District Administration, focusing on the most excluded populations.
