Gandhinagar : The Central Government has approved the Tharad-Mehsana-Ahmedabad National High-Speed Corridor in Gujarat. Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, Chaired by Prime Ministeri Narendra Modi, Approved ₹50,655 Crore for Nationwide Road Infrastructure Projects.

The Prime Minister has approved ₹10,534 crore for the 214 km long six-lane, access-controlled National High-Speed Corridor from Tharad to Ahmedabad under the Bharatmala Project. Chief Minister  Bhupendra Patel has hailed this decision by the Central Government, led by the Prime Minister, noting that the construction of this corridor—extending through the Banaskatha, Patan, Mehsana, Gandhinagar, and Ahmedabad districts—will significantly enhance the state’s industrial and economic development.

The Chief Minister also expressed gratitude to Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Shri Nitin Gadkari for this substantial allocation to Gujarat. The corridor is expected to improve connectivity to crucial sectors, including pharmaceuticals, electronics clusters, and SEZs, while also reducing transportation costs and saving time. Additionally, under Phase I of the Bharatmala Project, the National Highway Authority is currently constructing a six-lane, access-controlled greenfield expressway from Amritsar to Jamnagar.

This economic corridor spans Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, and Gujarat. To achieve comprehensive expressway connectivity between Amritsar and Mumbai, it is crucial to connect the Amritsar-Jamnagar Economic Corridor with Ahmedabad via a Greenfield Expressway. In this regard, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has made a pivotal contribution to Gujarat’s industrial growth by approving the Tharad-Deesa-Mehsana-Ahmedabad National High-Speed Corridor.
