DWARKA : A violent assault in Hathla village of Devbhumi Dwarka has raised serious questions after a viral video appeared to show a young scrap collector being repeatedly beaten with sticks and a pipe, even as a uniformed police officer was present at the scene.

The disturbing footage shows two men allegedly attacking the young man, who is seen lying on the ground and raising his hands in an apparent attempt to protect himself. The assault reportedly lasted only a few seconds, with around 15 blows visible in the footage.

The incident has triggered outrage among local residents and renewed questions over whether immediate action was taken to stop the assault.

In the video, one man appears to hold the victim while another strikes him with a stick. Shortly afterwards, another person allegedly joins the attack, with the victim being beaten with both a pipe and a stick.

A police officer in uniform is then seen arriving and making hand gestures towards those involved. Several other young men are also visible sitting near a tree and a raised platform, while a crowd watches the incident.

Jam Khambhalia DySP Rudlal confirmed to a newspaper that police have launched an investigation into the incident.

The police action came after the video circulated widely on social media, drawing attention to the alleged assault and the presence of police at the spot.
