HDFC Bank Announces System Upgrade to Enhance Customer Experience

Ahmedabad, Gujarat : HDFC Bank, India’s leading private sector bank, has announced a significant system upgrade scheduled for July 13, 2024. This upgrade involves migrating the bank’s Core Banking System (CBS) onto a new engineered platform designed to enhance customer experience and support the growing customer base of 9.3 crore individuals and businesses across the country.

Purpose of the Upgrade

The migration aims to improve performance speed, expand the capacity to handle high traffic volumes, and boost reliability and scalability. This transition will position HDFC Bank as one of the largest banks in the country to host its CBS on a new-generation platform, ensuring it can meet the evolving needs of its customers.

Scheduled Upgrade Details

The system upgrade is set to take place from 3:00 AM to 4:30 PM on Saturday, July 13, 2024. During this 13.5-hour window, several banking services will be temporarily affected. The bank has provided detailed information on which services will be available during the upgrade:

Available Services:

Net & Mobile Banking:

UPI: The service will be available, but it will be temporarily unavailable from 3:00 AM to 3:45 AM and from 9:30 AM to 12:45 PM on Saturday.

Bill Payments: Customers can add new billers and view existing ones.

Demat, Cards, and Loans: Only view services will be accessible.

Mutual Funds: Redemptions, switch, view & enquiry services, WealthFy reports, risk profile, and manage systematic section will be available.

Note: All other NetBanking & MobileBanking services will be unavailable from 3:00 AM to 4:30 PM except for the services mentioned above.

Cash Withdrawal:

Customers can withdraw cash from any ATM using their HDFC Bank debit or credit card up to a restricted amount. The account balance displayed will be as of 7:30 PM on Friday, July 12, 2024.

Shop & Pay:

In-Store Purchases: Customers can use their HDFC Bank debit card (up to a restricted amount) or credit card on swipe machines.

Online Purchases: Customers can make seamless online purchases with their HDFC Bank debit card (up to a restricted amount) and credit card.

UPI: The service will be available, with temporary unavailability from 3:00 AM to 3:45 AM and from 9:30 AM to 12:45 PM on Saturday.

Card Management:

Customers can hotlist their card, reset their PIN, and perform other card-related activities.

Merchant Payments:

Merchants can continue to receive payments via cards, but updates to the account for the previous day’s payments will be available post-upgrade completion.

Minimizing Inconvenience

To minimize inconvenience, HDFC Bank has scheduled the upgrade on the second Saturday of the month, which is a bank holiday. The bank has advised customers to plan their banking activities in advance to avoid any disruptions.
