Gujarat : Markets to remain shut in Ahmedabad on the Ram Temple consecration day

Many Ahmedabad traders and business federations such as Manek Chowk Choksi Mahajan, Ratan Pol Sona Chandi Dagina Mahajan, and the Ahmedabad Electrical Merchants and Contractors’ Association have declared a holiday on the 22nd, day of the consecration ceremony of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya. The Pran Pratistha ceremony will be presided over by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and attended by several VVIPs.

Ahmedabad : In anticipation of the Ram Temple ‘pran pratishtha’ (consecration) ceremony on the 22nd in Ayodhya,  markets in old city of Ahmedabad have declared a holiday on January 22nd.

Many Ahmedabad traders and business federations such as Manek Chowk Choksi Mahajan, Ratan Pol Sona Chandi Dagina Mahajan, and the Ahmedabad Electrical Merchants and Contractors’ Association have declared a holiday on the 22nd, day of the consecration ceremony of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya. The Pran Pratistha ceremony will be presided over by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and attended by several VVIPs.

The Ahmedabad Vepari Mahajan has requested around 60 trade associations to voluntarily declare a holiday on Monday, January 22, and take part in the celebrations.

While, the Manek Chowk Choksi Mahajan has officially declared a holiday for the occasion. The Mahajan has made an appeal to shopkeepers to decorate their shops as if it were Diwali and light lamps at home.

The Maskati Cloth Merchants Association plans to celebrate the consecration with shop decorations, while some associations like Madhupura Spice Merchants Market are contemplating on following suite.

The Ahmedabad Electrical Merchants and Contractors Association, with several shops along Gandhi Road and other parts of Ahmedabad, plans to decorate the entire Gandhi Road. Local restaurants too have been decorating their premises to mark the occasion.
