Surat | Gujarat — A brutal late-night killing of 21-year-old BJP Yuva Morcha office-bearer Jay Dalal has sent shockwaves through Surat’s political circles and triggered fears over law and order in the city. The young leader, known for his active involvement in the Bharatiya Janata Party, was attacked with sharp weapons around 12:30 am on May 17 and later succumbed to injuries in hospital.
Jay Dalal, son of local political worker Jayshreeben Dalal, served as vice president of Dindoli Ward Yuva Morcha and was closely associated with MLA Sangeetaben Patil. According to his mother, he had left home after receiving a friend’s call, telling her, “Mom, I am coming late, I won’t eat.” Hours later, the family received a call from the hospital informing them of his critical injuries.
Grieving and demanding justice, Jayshreeben said, “Three men killed my only son and left him bleeding. He had no enmity with anyone. My only demand is that the accused get the death penalty so no other mother suffers this pain.”
Police confirmed the attack was carried out by three men who arrived on a two-wheeler and assaulted Dalal with a paddle near Road No. 6. Assistant Commissioner of Police Chirag Vadodaria stated, “The accused have been identified as Kishan alias Chakli Somabhai Parmar, Pankaj Patil and Milind Koli. The victim was rushed to hospital but died during treatment.”
Preliminary investigation indicates a dispute between Dalal and the accused three months earlier. One of the suspects reportedly has a criminal history and had faced action under PASA recently.
