Surat : ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India (AM/NS India) organized Learning Week from June 12 to 16, 2023. The initiative by the Team HR and Academy aims to cultivate a culture of continual learning and empower individuals to create brighter futures.

Learning Week is an important platform for AM/NS India to emphasize the importance of learning and development. This year, it was celebrated across the organization from June 12 to 16 with the theme revolving around Health & Safety, Innovation, Teamwork, and Sustainability.

The Learning Week got underway with engaging sessions on safety, innovation & VUCA world, the art of converting goals into reality, and different shades of green automotive by AM/NS India’s senior officials.

The second day of the Learning Week saw CEO Dilip Oommen addressing the audience and highlighting the vision of learning and its role in the growth and empowerment of individuals. The management committee members stressed a shift in the mindset and emphasized the importance of setting personal learning goals and actively seeking out opportunities that align with individual aspirations.

Harvard alumnus and social entrepreneur Sharad Vivek Sagar, who has been featured on the Forbes 30 under 30 list, delivered the keynote address around Organizational Leadership. He stressed the importance of a sense of purpose and direction and said that leadership is a mindset and responsibility. He shared his personal experiences to show how they led him to establish Dexterity Global, a national organization empowering the next generation of leaders through educational opportunities and training.

A panel discussion on the ‘Future of Indian Steel Industry’, featuring AM/NS India senior leaders, including Ashutosh Telang, Akiyo Omori, Wim Van Gerven, and Alain Legrix shed light on AM/NS India’s contribution to the growth and development of the Indian steel industry. The discussion was moderated by Raghavan Aravamudhan.

The day concluded with a session by Aparna Piramal Raje who busted various myths about mental health. She highlighted the role of friends, family, spirituality, and lifestyle in a person’s life and their effect on mental health and overall well-being. She also spoke about the importance of listening and the need for psychological safety in organisations.

The third day started with ‘Learning to Learn – Friends and Enemies of Learning’ session conducted by Ashutosh Telang. Then external speaker Nithya Shanti, an internationally acclaimed teacher of joyful and conscious living, discussed the ‘Happiness Habits’. While Lt. Gen. Satish Dua, the mastermind behind India’s first surgical strike, taught a lesson on ‘Lessons from the Battlefield’.
