Adani University, ISRO and ISG Collaborate on Shaping the Future of Geomatics in India

Ahmedabad : A collaborative workshop titled “Role of Industry in Growing Geomatics in India” was recently held at Adani University, Ahmedabad. The program, organized in partnership with ISRO’s Space Application Center (SAC) and Indian Society of Geomatics – Ahmedabad Chapter (ISG-AC), brought together leading figures from industry and academia to brainstorm   the crucial role industries can play in advancing the field of geomatics in India.

The workshop emphasized the importance of technological innovation in not only propelling India’s geomatics sector but also equipping the industry with a highly skilled workforce.  Experts including SAC-Ahmedabad Director Nilesh Desai, SAC/ISRO Deputy Director Dr. Nitant Dubey, and Adani University’s Dr. Ravi P. Singh shared valuable insights and guidance on paving the path for a thriving future of geomatics in India.

A unique aspect of the workshop was the focus on fostering synergy between government organizations like ISRO-SAC and private sector academic institutions. In his inaugural address, Nilesh Desai lauded ISRO’s remarkable journey and its pivotal contribution to India’s infrastructural development through space technology applications. Highlighting the successful landing of Chandrayaan-3 as a testament to ISRO’s capabilities, Desai  stressed the immense benefits of integrating space technologies for monitoring various infrastructure sectors such as railways and agriculture.

An engaging panel discussion featuring experts from both industry and academia added significant value to the workshop. Dr. Ravi P. Singh, from Adani University,  described the recently signed MoU with ISRO-SAC, Ahmedabad Chapter, as a significant development that will  facilitate hands-on projects for faculty and students.

The program concluded with a special felicitation ceremony honoring the Ahmedabad Chapter team in recognition of ISRO-SAC’s 25-year long journey.  Overall, the workshop proved to be a  fruitful endeavor that will pave the way for future innovations and advancements in the field of geomatics in India, offering  numerous benefits for students and the industry as a whole.
