Apple’s upcoming iPhone 18 Pro could become more expensive than its predecessor, but the iPhone 18 Pro cost increase may be smaller than some earlier reports suggested.

According to a report citing Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple could increase the starting price of the iPhone 18 Pro by around $100, rather than the $200–$300 increase previously anticipated.

If the reported pricing strategy is accurate, the iPhone 18 Pro could start at approximately $1,199, compared with the $1,099 starting price of the iPhone 17 Pro.

iPhone 18 Pro Could Start at $1,199

The expected $100 increase would represent roughly a 9% rise over the previous-generation Pro model.

The iPhone 18 Pro Max could also see a similar increase, potentially moving from a starting price of $1,199 for the iPhone 17 Pro Max to approximately $1,299.

This would be significantly lower than earlier predictions that Apple’s next Pro models could start at $1,299 or even $1,399.

However, these figures remain unofficial until Apple announces the iPhone 18 lineup.

Why Could the iPhone 18 Pro Cost More?

Apple is reportedly dealing with higher component costs, particularly for memory, storage and camera hardware.

The company could choose to absorb some of these additional expenses rather than passing the entire increase on to consumers.

Apple’s pricing strategy may therefore focus on keeping the entry-level Pro model relatively competitive while recovering additional costs through higher-storage configurations.

Higher Storage Models Could See Bigger Increases

The headline $100 price increase may not apply equally across every iPhone 18 Pro configuration.

Previous reports have suggested that the 512GB and 1TB models could become $150 to $200 more expensive.

That means customers who typically purchase higher-storage iPhones could face a considerably larger price increase than buyers choosing the base storage option.

For example, if the entry-level iPhone 18 Pro receives a $100 increase while a higher-capacity configuration receives a $200 increase, the difference could become significant for buyers upgrading to premium storage tiers.

India Price Could Be Higher

Indian buyers should also avoid directly converting the reported US prices into Indian rupees.

Apple’s iPhones are generally priced differently across international markets because of taxes, duties, distribution costs and regional pricing strategies.

Therefore, a reported $1,199 iPhone 18 Pro price in the US does not necessarily mean the Indian price will simply be the equivalent rupee amount.

The final India pricing is expected to be revealed when Apple officially launches the iPhone 18 series.

iPhone 18 Pro Launch Expected in September

Apple is expected to unveil the iPhone 18 series in September 2026, although the company had not officially confirmed the launch details at the time of the report.

The upcoming Pro models are expected to bring several hardware and camera improvements, which could make the price increase easier to justify for some buyers.

However, customers interested in 512GB or 1TB iPhone 18 Pro models may need to pay particular attention to Apple’s final pricing.

For now, the key takeaway is that the iPhone 18 Pro cost increase could be around $100 for the entry-level model, while higher-storage variants may become significantly more expensive.
