In a rapidly evolving healthcare landscape where modern medicine and technology continue to reshape patient care, a new generation of Ayurvedic professionals is working to restore the scientific relevance of India’s traditional healing systems. Among them is Dr. Debabrata Acharjee — an Ayurvedic surgeon, academician, researcher, and integrative healthcare leader whose work reflects the convergence of classical Ayurvedic wisdom, regenerative healing, minimally invasive surgery, and patient-centered healthcare.

Dr. Debabrata Acharjee, BAMS, MS (Shalyatantra – General Surgery), currently serves as Assistant Professor and Visiting Surgeon while also leading Acharya Health Care & Research Centre and Acharya Health Clinic. Based across Agartala and West Bengal, the institutions are steadily emerging as modern centers for integrative Ayurvedic healthcare, regenerative healing, research, education, and minimally invasive Ayurvedic surgery.

Raised with deep respect for India’s traditional medical heritage, Dr. Acharjee believes that Ayurveda must evolve through research, ethics, and scientific validation rather than remain confined to historical admiration alone. His professional journey began with a deep interest in medical science and traditional Indian healing systems, eventually leading him to pursue BAMS followed by an MS in Shalyatantra (General Surgery), where he developed expertise in Ayurvedic surgery, parasurgical procedures, regenerative wound healing, chronic pain management, and anorectal disease care.

A defining phase of his journey came during postgraduate surgical training, where he closely observed the effectiveness of classical Ayurvedic procedures such as Ksharsutra, Agnikarma, Jalauka Avacharana, and other parasurgical techniques in managing chronic and difficult conditions. The experience strengthened his vision of reviving the surgical legacy of Sushruta through modern integrative healthcare.

Rather than limiting himself to conventional clinical practice, Dr. Acharjee envisioned building an institution that could combine authentic Ayurveda with evidence-based modern clinical standards. This vision led to the establishment of Acharya Health Clinic in 2020, followed by its expansion in 2024, and eventually the formation of Acharya Health Care & Research Centre in 2026.

Today, the organization focuses on specialized care in areas such as anorectal disorders, chronic non-healing wounds, regenerative wound care, minimally invasive Ayurvedic surgery, chronic pain management, lifestyle disorders, and integrative supportive care for cancer patients aimed at improving quality of life.

The institution is particularly recognized for procedures including Ksharsutra Therapy, Laser Proctology, Ksharkarma, Agnikarma, Jalauka Avacharana, and Raktamokshan therapies. These minimally invasive procedures are designed to reduce post-operative discomfort, shorten recovery time, minimize recurrence, and improve accessibility for middle-class and rural patients.

Another defining aspect of the organization is its emphasis on evidence-based Ayurveda and scientific healthcare integration. The institution emphasizes evidence-based Ayurvedic practice supported by clinical documentation, patient-centric care, and research-oriented treatment protocols. Alongside clinical services, the organization is gradually building a larger framework focused on regenerative healthcare research, holistic healing methodologies, Ayurvedic medicine formulation development, and preventive healthcare awareness.

Dr. Acharjee’s role as an Assistant Professor and Visiting Surgeon has also contributed significantly to the organization’s identity. Through academic mentorship, practical surgical teaching, and healthcare awareness initiatives, he actively encourages students and young professionals to approach Ayurveda with scientific discipline, ethical responsibility, and research orientation.

An important long-term goal of the organization is the promotion of authentic Ayurvedic medicine preparation rooted in classical principles while maintaining quality, safety, and modern healthcare standards. The broader mission extends beyond clinical care into education, research, affordable healthcare delivery, and the preservation of India’s traditional medical sciences for future generations.

Dr. Acharjee envisions building a future-ready integrative healthcare ecosystem where classical Ayurvedic surgical wisdom coexists with evidence-based modern clinical practice. His long-term mission includes regenerative healing research, affordable rural healthcare delivery, Ayurvedic formulation development, and academic training for the next generation of Ayurvedic surgeons.

As Acharya Health Care & Research Centre continues expanding its presence across Tripura and West Bengal, the institution represents more than a healthcare brand. It reflects a larger movement dedicated to reviving authentic Ayurveda through scientific validation, ethical practice, research-driven innovation, and compassionate patient care.
