Surat may soon host a grand exhibition of 150 vintage cars owned by Maharajas across India

VCCCI chairman announces plan at Surat International Auto Expo as 70+ auto brands and rare vintage cars attract visitors

Surat | Gujarat — If all goes well, the diamond city of Surat will witness the first-ever exhibition of vintage cars owned by the Maharajas from across the country. This was announced by Nitin Dossa, chairman of Vintage and Classical Car Club of India (VCCCI) during the inauguration of Surat International Auto Expo 2026 organised by the Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SGCCI) at SIECC, Sarsana in Surat on Friday. 

Nitini Dossa, Chairman of (VCCCI), who inaugurated the auto expo, congratulated the SGCCI for organising the largest auto expo of western India. Dossa said, “While 11 rare vintage cars have been exhibited in this expo, in the coming time, a separate exhibition of vintage cars of the Maharajas of the entire country can be organized in Surat, in which we will bring 150 vintage cars from Mumbai”

 On this occasion, chairman of Hari Krishna Exports Pvt. Ltd. Padmashri Savjibhai D. Dholakia, Executive Director of International Automobile Center of Excellence (iACE) E. Rajiv, Industrialist  Lovejibhai Badshah and Chirag Nakrani, Hardik Kothia and  Fenil Patel of Reyzon Solar were present as special guests.

SGCCI president Nikhil Madrasi said that it is a historic day for the chamber. The largest auto expo of western India after Delhi has been organized in Surat. In this expo, cars, two-wheelers, commercial vehicles and latest workshop technology have been put up for display by leading companies of the country. More than 70 brands from the car segment, two-wheeler segment and commercial segment have participated in the expo.

Padmashri Savjibhai D. Dholakia, Chairman of Hari Krishna Exports Pvt. Ltd., said that this auto expo organized by the chamber will expose the name of Surat in the entire country. This expo will inspire the youth to dream big. He said that he has seen some of the cars here for the first time in his life. 

Rajiv, Executive Director of (iACE) said that this expo organized by the chamber shows that Surat is rapidly developing as an important manufacturing hub of India. There is a possibility of setting up new plants in Surat in the automobile sector as well, due to which manufacturing will take place here and exports will also take place.

Auto Expo Chairman Mehul Desai said that after Delhi, this Auto Expo in Surat is the second largest composite expo in India, in which more than 20 renowned brands like Mini Cooper, Audi, Mercedes, BMW, Jaguar-Land Rover, Tata Motors, Hyundai, Kia, Jeep, MG and MG Select, Renault, Nissan, Skoda, Toyota, Volvo, Citroen and Mahindra have participated.

In the two-wheeler and commercial segment, Royal Enfield, Suzuki, KTM, Ather, River, Kinetic Electric Truck, Bajaj Chetak, KTM, Triumph Yamaha, TVS and in the commercial segment, Tata and Swaraj Mazda and Mahindra vehicles are on display.

As many as 11 extremely rare vintage cars have become the center of attraction for the people at the Auto Expo. In addition, 10 new passenger vehicles and 3 commercial vehicles were unveiled by dignitaries at the Expo. In addition, the stunt bike show and off-road proving ground are becoming the main attractions for the visitors.
