Ahmedabad | Gujarat — After liquor, the union territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli (DNH) has become a manufacturing hub of illegal Chinese thread, which is used by many during the Uttrayan festival. This was revealed when the Ahmedabad police seized Chinese manja (string) to the tune of Rs 2.34 crore.
As Uttarayan approaches, Chinese string sales have begun secretly. However, now Ahmedabad Police has seized Chinese string and reached its factory. After seizing prohibited string worth seven and a half lakh rupees from Sanand police station area, police investigation revealed that the string stock came from a factory in Dadra Nagar Haveli, following which police raided the union territory. Chinese string worth 2.24 crores and raw materials for making string were seized from the factory and the factory has been sealed.

A team from Ahmedabad Rural Police reached Dadra Nagar Haveli for investigation where they conducted a raid at Vandana Industries with the help of local police. They caught a Chinese string manufacturing factory there. From this factory, finished Chinese string worth 1.50 crores, machinery for making Chinese string and other raw materials worth 50 lakhs, totaling goods worth 2 crores of Chinese string stock and raw materials were seized.
Additionally, police seized Chinese kite string worth Rs 12.91 lakh from Bavla, Rs 9.60 lakh worth from near Vataman intersection, Rs 2 lakh worth from Anand, totaling Chinese kite string worth Rs 2.34 crore.
A factory was also caught in Surat three months ago
Three months ago, a huge quantity of Chinese string was seized from a factory in Pandesara area of Surat. Under the guise of making fine filament from plastic granules, deadly Chinese string was being produced. Police had seized goods worth more than 2 crores.
