Surat Hosts Gujarat’s biggest photography exhibition 

Surat | Gujarat — The diamond cityof Surat dazzled with artistry of another kind as Visual Poetries Photography Award & Drashtikon Photofest 2025 was inaugurated at Science Center, Surat on Thursday.  Running till September 21, the four-day celebration of visual culture has already drawn nationwide attention with over 3,000 entries from 22 states and promises to position Surat as India’s new hub for photographic excellence.

“This festival is not just about pictures; it’s about creating an art environment where conversations thrive and creativity becomes contagious,” said a festival curator and renowned wildlife photographer.

A Festival of Exhibitions & Expressions

The theme this year, “Expression”, will unfold across four thoughtfully curated exhibitions: Expression, Surat – The City of Happiness, Wildlife Photographer of the Year 2024 Collection from the Natural History Museum, London, and the Master’s Gallery.

The NHM London showcase, making its Gujarat debut, is considered a cultural milestone. “Bringing this globally celebrated exhibition to Surat reflects the city’s growing importance on the cultural map of India,” said Gemma Ward from the Natural History Museum, the event’s international guest.

Talks, Launches & Inspiration

Audiences will also experience engaging book launches, including one by Vivek Desai, alongside talks by stalwarts like Dinesh Khanna, Dhritiman Mukherji, Shivang Mehta, and others. Their perspectives will cover wildlife, documentary, and cultural photography, offering deep insights to budding photographers and enthusiasts alike.

Beyond the Lens – Music, Art & Local Talent

Adding vibrancy, the festival integrates live music performances, showcasing rare instruments and local talent. Painters and sketch artists will hold live sessions, ensuring the celebration transcends photography into a multidisciplinary art festival.
