Surat, Gujarat — In a major stride towards making India a global powerhouse in jewellery exports, the Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC), under the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India, has launched the India Jewellery Exposition Centre (IJEX) in Dubai. Designed as a year-round B2B platform, IJEX provides Indian jewellery manufacturers—especially MSMEs and emerging exporters—with a unique opportunity to connect with global buyers across the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Africa, Eastern Europe, Russia, and Central Asia.

“IJEX is more than a showroom—it’s a trade accelerator for Indian jewellers. It gives them the visibility, support, and global exposure they need to thrive in competitive international markets,” said Jayantibhai Savaliya, Regional Chairman – Gujarat, at a recent webinar held to promote the initiative.

Since its inauguration by Commerce & Industry Minister Piyush Goyal in 2023, IJEX has hosted 50 Indian exporters, attracted 885 buyers from 16 countries, and helped set up 12 Indian-owned companies in Dubai. Its success underscores Dubai’s role as a global gold and jewellery hub, with its liberal trade policies, infrastructure, and diverse clientele making it the ideal launchpad for Indian brands.

To deepen industry participation, GJEPC has introduced a Market Research and Familiarization Programme, hosted at IJEX. This one-week initiative aims to equip emerging jewellers with the practical tools and knowledge required for successful global expansion. From understanding consumer behaviour across nationalities to navigating UAE import/export regulations, participants are offered a comprehensive primer on entering and succeeding in the GCC jewellery landscape.

“This programme is not just about education—it’s about empowerment. We’re giving small and medium jewellers the means to go global, with training, mentoring, and direct B2B access,” said Ashish S., Head of IJEX Dubai, during the webinar.

The online session, organised by GJEPC’s Regional Office in Surat, saw an overwhelming response from Gujarat’s jewellers, with over 100 members attending. The enthusiasm was palpable as 25 jewellers confirmed their participation on the spot for the two announced batches—July 7 and August 11, 2025.

IJEX also focuses on inclusive growth, supporting women entrepreneurs and third-generation jewellers seeking to expand beyond domestic markets. From product curation to company formation and banking operations, IJEX functions as a first-of-its-kind export incubator, guiding participants through every step of their global journey.
