Ahmedabad : Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Okha–Beyt Dwarka Sudarshan Bridge, the longest cable-stayed bridge in India, during his visit to Devbhumi Dwarka on February 25, marking a key milestone. PM Modi will inaugurate several development projects totaling Rs. 4253 crore in Devbhumi Dwarka, Jamnagar, and Porbandar districts, marking a significant advancement in infrastructure and growth for the area.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Devbhumi Dwarka on February 25 to introduce a set of groundbreaking projects focused on enhancing infrastructure and connectivity in Gujarat. The main attraction of the event will be the unveiling of the Okha–Beyt Dwarka Sudarshan Bridge, showcasing India’s dedication to advanced infrastructure and connectivity.

The Okha–Beyt Dwarka Sudarshan Bridge, measuring 2,320 metres (7,612 ft) in total length, showcases India’s technical excellence. The bridge was authorised by Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari in 2016. It is significant since it links the Beyt Dwarka island in the Gulf of Kutch to Okha.

Prime Minister Modi initiated the ambitious project on October 7, 2017. After years of careful planning and construction, the bridge is now completed and will provide essential support to around 8,500 island residents and numerous pilgrims visiting the revered temples in the area.

PM Modi will inaugurate the Sudarshan Bridge and announce other development projects worth Rs. 4253 crore in Devbhumi Dwarka, Jamnagar, and Porbandar districts. The projects include essential areas including transport, energy, and urban infrastructure, with the goal of improving the quality of life and stimulating economic development in the region.

One of the main projects scheduled for opening is the electrification of railway lines on the Rajkot – Okha and Rajkot – Jetalsar – Somnath routes, which is a major advancement in sustainable and efficient transportation. Finishing these electrification projects, which amount to Rs. 676 crore, would enable the operation of electric trains, decreasing diesel use and improving environmental sustainability.

PM Modi will dedicate offshore pipes valued at Rs. 1378 crore at Vadinar, highlighting India’s commitment to enhancing energy infrastructure and ensuring energy security. The government’s emphasis on renewable energy and scientific innovation is shown by the establishment of a waste land solar PV project, sewage treatment facility, and regional research centre at the inauguration.

PM Modi’s visit signifies a renewed focus on comprehensive development and growth in Gujarat as he initiates various development initiatives such as highway widening and the installation of FGD systems in thermal power facilities.
