SURAT : The Virar-Surat MEMU (Train No. 19101) derailed near Bhilad railway station on Tuesday morning, disrupting train services on the busy Western Railway route. Railway officials confirmed that no passenger was injured in the incident, bringing relief to commuters despite the operational disruption.
According to Western Railway, the derailment caused a technical disruption, forcing several trains to be rescheduled. Railway teams were immediately rushed to the site to restore normal operations and clear the affected section.
“The Virar-Surat MEMU (Train No. 19101) derailed near Bhilad station. No injuries have been reported in the incident. Restoration work is underway, and train services are being regulated,” a Western Railway official said.
The following trains have been rescheduled on July 28 due to the disruption:
19015 Dadar–Porbandar: 10:30 hrs
09055 Bandra Terminus–Udhna: 10:00 hrs
59045 Mumbai Central–Vapi: 10:55 hrs
09001 Mumbai Central–Bhiwani: 11:30 hrs
Railway authorities have advised passengers to check the latest running status of their trains through the National Train Enquiry System (NTES) or by dialing 139 before starting their journey.
“We regret the inconvenience caused to passengers and are making every effort to restore normal train operations at the earliest,” the official added.
