SURAT :  Dr. Pankaj Gandhi, noted Civil Engineer, Urban Planner, Researcher and Scientist from Surat, has received an invitation to participate in the prestigious ‘International Climate Resilience Conference (iCARE 2027)’, scheduled to be held from 31 March to 2 April 2027 at Ludwig Maximilian University (LMU) Munich, Germany.

The invitation has been issued by the iCARE2027 Organizing Committee, led by Prof. Dr. Liang Emlyn Yang, inviting global researchers, scientists, policymakers, urban planners and climate experts to contribute to discussions on climate resilience, sustainable development and innovative adaptation strategies.

The International Climate Resilience Conference is being organized following the remarkable success of the inaugural iCARE2025 conference. The 2027 edition aims to shift the global dialogue beyond climate risks and vulnerabilities by showcasing successful resilience-building initiatives, transformative policies and practical solutions that enable societies, ecosystems and economies to adapt and thrive under changing climatic conditions.

The conference will focus on a wide range of subjects including climate resilience, urban resilience, social-ecological systems, disaster risk reduction, sustainable development, environmental governance, adaptation strategies and strengthening synergies among international environmental agreements.

Dr. Pankaj Gandhi has been actively engaged in multidisciplinary research related to **urban flooding, groundwater behaviour, climate resilience, sustainable urban planning and disaster risk management**, with a special focus on Surat city. His scientific studies on urban flood mitigation, groundwater dynamics, drainage systems, climate adaptation and resilient infrastructure have attracted considerable attention among researchers and policymakers.

Speaking on the invitation, Dr. Gandhi said that climate resilience has become one of the most critical challenges facing rapidly urbanizing cities across the world. He emphasized that scientific research, integrated urban planning, nature-based solutions and community participation are essential for building resilient cities capable of withstanding future climate extremes. He expressed hope that the conference would provide an excellent platform for exchanging knowledge and best practices with leading international experts.

The conference organizers have also invited experts from across the world to propose thematic sessions before **23 August 2026**, while the official call for abstracts is expected to be released in **October 2026**.

Dr. Gandhi’s invitation to this prestigious international conference is a matter of pride for Surat and reflects the growing global recognition of research being undertaken from the city in the fields of climate resilience, urban sustainability and disaster management.
